Rockford IT's chairman comments on Post Office IT System Dispute (May 09)

Post Office logo There have been calls for a full investigation into the Post Offices Horizon IT system, after many postmasters are claiming unexplained losses as a result of a fault with the IT system. The Post Office however deny there is any fault and postmasters are being blamed for the incorrect balances. Rockford IT’s chairman, Tony Sykes, has been asked by Computer Weekly to comment on the claims made by the Post Masters and by the Post Office.  As an expert in the IT industry, Tony has been asked to look at some printouts from the system and to comment on how errors may have occurred. After initially studying sample print-outs from the IT system, Tony has recommended further investigation into this case, stating that there is a lack of evidence at the present time to come to any reasonable conclusion. The story, which was the front page cover story in Computer Weekly last week, is also reported in www.computerweekly.com, and can be viewed in full here.
